The Arcade Projects/Evergreen YDSA is a class-struggle organization at The Evergreen State College fighting for worker power and international socialism. We aim to be a hub for students and workers to organize and connect with projects in the service of working-class politics, autonomy, and community. We stand in combat with all forms of alienation and exploitation at Evergreen, in Olympia, and beyond. Join us!
Our projects
Disorientation Manual/Week
The Disorientation Manual: A Student and Working Class Guide to The Evergreen State College is added to, revised, and edited every summer, requiring multiple contributors in order to achieve the best output. It is a work that hundreds, if not thousands of students read. It provides the best most honest look into what being a student at Evergreen means and has meant. Alongside publishing the Diso we host shows, parties, and other events the first week of school to get students disoriented to student life and culture.
Labor Committee
We are an independent labor solidarity network looking to create spaces for and support student worker struggles, community, and organizing through workshops, socials, and more.
Rapid Response
We are building out a network of students and workers with teams in every building prepared to respond to whatever threats arise on campus.
Trainings and Workshops
In order to make our campus safer by building up the defensive capacities of students and workers on campus, we host regular trainings and workshops centered on emergency medicine, protest safety, self defense, and digital security.
Political Education
Ten Point Program
1. We want an end to Evergreen’s so-called Administration and for the reconstitution of the board of trustees into a democratically elected student-worker-teacher council.
2. We want power and self-determination for the Tacoma Campus; for Tacoma to decide the complete functioning of their institution, facilities and academics, and be resourced proportionally to and unique from Olympia campus
3. We want to take control of our labor from the bosses and the Washington state bourgeois-settler government; to organize the unorganized; have work guaranteed to students and alumni; and a campus-wide workers’ council to represent and coordinate all labor at the college
4.We want no unpaid or uncompensated labor to exist on campus whether that be productive, unproductive, social, or academic.
5. We want academics under student and teacher control and for the provost to be democratically elected, accountable to recall election, by teachers, students, and campus workers
6. We want the cancellation of Greener Foundations and for it to be replaced by Disorientation, facilitated by a community of students, campus workers, and alumni, in order to provide a people’s history of Evergreen
7. We want an end to landlordism at the college; the abolition of rent; for guaranteed housing for students, teachers, and campus workers, and for campus housing and facilities to be under student-worker control
8. We want the abolition of Evergreen Police Services and surveillance and a prohibition on police entering student housing and campus grounds
9. We want campus food, housing, laundry, parking, childcare and medical to be free to all students, teachers, and campus workers
10. We want comprehensive healthcare for all students, teachers, and campus workers and for it to include primary care, EMT’s, immunizations, lab work, radiology, physical therapy, dental, women’s health, gender affirming care, a pharmacy, and naturopathic options
Our General Meetings: Every Friday from 6-8 in CAB 304
